In order to promote private investment, foster innovation and improve the quality and coverage of telecommunications services throughout the national territory, Peru´s Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTC) has issued Ministerial Resolution No. 0796-2020 -MTC / 01.03, which provides for the publication of the Working Document “Proposal for the assignment of 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz frequency bands and Identification of the 6 GHz frequency band for the development of 5G digital services and technologies and more over there”, for the purposes of its Public Consultation for thirty (30) calendar days from November 3, 2020, in order to establish measures that allow Peru to enter the new era of telecommunications, digital transformation and develop the 5G technology, (fifth generation technology for telephony and mobile networks) that an provide an internet 10 times faster than the current 4G.

This project in Public Consultation proposes the plan for the allocation of the 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz frequency bands through a public competition for the granting of concessions, and identifies the radioelectric spectrum for the development of use cases of unlicensed bands in the 6 GHz frequency band, projecting the possibility of using WIFI 6E technology in this frequency band.

It is proposed to implement the 6 GHz band as an un-licensed band, in three phases, according to its indoor and outdoor power, as well as its limitations of outdoor operation and its possible study for a future IMT band at the top of this band 6 425 – 7 125 MHz, which will be studied until the 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference.
