Through Exempt Resolution N° 1092, dated June 5, 2024, SUBTEL has submitted to citizen consultation the draft amendment of Exempt Resolution N° 1985 of 2017 that establishes the technical standard for equipment of reduced range.
This regulatory proposal has been based by the regulator on the provision of the new regulatory framework required in the face of the deployment, development and technological evolution of recent times, which has brought with it a sustained increase in certification applications and whose trend is increasing due to the arrival of new technologies, such as 5G and others linked to the “Internet of Things”.
SUBTEL thus proposes a new open scheme without prior formalities, where manufacturers and importers directly verify compliance with the provisions of the aforementioned resolution and, subsequently, incorporate a QR code on the box, wrapper or packaging of the respective equipment, with a link to a site containing the commercial and technical information that endorses compliance with the regulations. The proposal establishes as the only exception, the certification of medical equipment, which will continue to require the certification application process before SUBTEL for its import and commercialization in the southern country.
The consultation process will be open for 30 continuous days, starting on June 13, 2024. The closing will take place on July 12, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
SUBTEL has set up an opinion form, where interested parties can participate by directing their contributions, opinions and suggestions, directly through the form provided in the official link.
