In consideration of the growth indicators of the contracted bandwidth for fixed Internet and the increase in devices that use Wi-Fi wireless connections in indoor use, the MTC has published a proposal for regulatory modification aimed at achieving the extension of the Wi-Fi coverage in the 5150-5250MHz band, by increasing the limit of the established Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP).
The increase in the EIRP limit proposed by the regulatory proposal would repeal the maximum of 23dBm to raise it to a maximum of 30dBm in indoor use, which will allow, from its official approval, the homologation of all those equipment that had been rejected until now for exceeding it.
From C-TEITEL we welcome this administrative initiative of the MTC that will solve the existing incompatibility between the standard still in force and the current technical and commercial reality global fully recognized by the regulators of the Sector.
Contributions and comments on the regulatory proposal may be directed by interested parties during the period of fifteen calendar days counted from November 29, 2023, to the main headquarters of the Ministry in the city of Lima with attention to the General Directorate of Communications Policies and Regulation or to the email: info.DGPRC@mtc.gob.pe
