PERU (MTC) updates the Technical Annex of the Emergency Early Warning Messaging System (SISMATE)

Through the official publication of Ministerial Resolution No. 896-2021-MTC/01.03, of September 18, 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Peru (MTC), modified the Technical Annex of the Emergency Early Warning Messaging System – SISMATE, which was established in 2018, through Ministerial Resolution No. 049-2018-MTC/01.03.

The MTC modified the Technical Annex of SISMATE, in order to allow telephone companies to use, for 2G technology, protocols different from those indicated in Table N° 1 of said Annex, thereby facilitating an adequate implementation of SISMATE, since it will allow the population affected, or potentially affected, by a disaster or an emergency or urgency situation, who have mobile equipment that supports 2G technology, to receive alert messages more efficiently and accurately.
